A KILWINNING Primary has been praised for its excellent education.

Corsehill Primary and Nursery received two ‘excellents’ and six ‘very goods’ after a team of inspectors from Education Scotland visited in January 2018.

The inspection team found happy, articulate and kind children who successfully lead their own learning, and make the most of the dynamic and exciting learning experiences offered to them.

The report praised the ‘inspirational leadership’ of the headteacher and depute headteacher in leading transformational change and in securing improvement through self-evaluation. Their passion for ensuring that no child misses out is ensuring equity of opportunity for all.

It also praised the dedication of all staff in creating an ethos of nurture and achievement, where children and adults alike feel safe, valued and respected. The wellbeing of the whole school community underpins the day-to-day work of all.

The report also highlighted sector-leading partnerships with parents which are improving the life chances of children and families, innovative ways for children to learn outdoors and to learn about science and technology, consistently high-quality learning and teaching across the primary and early years classes.

This is enriched through worthwhile partnerships with families, partners and the wider community.

The only area for improvement was for the school to continue to build on the purposeful and joyous learning experiences, to prepare children well for the future.

Head teacher Wendy Rose said: “I am very proud to have Corsehill Primary and EYC recognised as an excellent school in our fantastic report.

“Our staff are dedicated to providing innovative, dynamic and exciting learning experiences for our children while ensuring equity of opportunity for all.

“The wellbeing of the whole school community underpins the day to day work of our school.”
