AYRSHIRE Cancer Support wish to thank the community of Beith for once again supporting the annual coffee morning.

This year’s event, at Beith Community Hall on Saturday, March 23, raised over £1,000.

The coffee morning has run for 30 years and until last year was organised by the late Bill Haining.

Bill was a tremendous supporter of the charity for over 30 years and in that time the community raised a phenomenal £487,728.23.

Sandra Galloway has kindly volunteered to take over the organising of the coffee morning, and the charity would like to further thank all the local businesses who provided raffle prizes, the volunteers who helped on the day and to the wonderful people of Beith for their continued support.

This year’s coffee morning raised £1,107.23, with further donations after the event bringing the total to £1,147.85.

This will be added to the running total that has been donated through the years.

A representative for the charity said: “The amount of funds raised from such a small community over the past 30 years is just incredible.

“Bill Haining was a lovely person who was dedicated to raising funds for his community.

“A simple thanks doesn’t seem good enough, but we truly appreciate every penny that has been donated, and this money has been put to good use supporting the families in the Beith area who are living with cancer.

“Beith is the little town with a big heart and we thank you all so much.”
