POPULAR bakery chain Greggs officially opened a new shop in Stevenston on Friday, April 27, with the creation of ten jobs.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing as issues with water at the site meant there was a four-hour delay to letting customers through the door to taste their grub.

The new shop at Ashenyards Park, Stevenston Road, will offer customers a contemporary food-on-the go experience, with seating available for customers who wish to enjoy their purchases inside the shop.

Customers will be able to enjoy a range of savouries as well as sandwiches and salads that are freshly prepared throughout the day.

Breakfast will be served until 11am, featuring traditional classics such as bacon rolls, fresh fruit and a full range of freshly ground and Fairtrade coffee.

The Balanced Choice range includes a selection of sandwiches, salads, soups, porridge and fruit - all fewer than 400 calories.

Allan Adair, shop manager at Greggs Ashenyards Park said: “We hope customers enjoy the wide range of tasty items we have on offer.”

Roisin Currie, retail director for Greggs, said: “We’re delighted to be able to invest in Stevenston, bringing new jobs to the area and providing our customers with a modern and convenient new shop.”

Shop opening times are 6am–7pm Monday–Saturday and 8am–6pm on Sunday.
