POLICE in the Three Towns are appealing for information after a number of fires in Ardrossan.

The blazes have been extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in the area of Kilmahew Court and Glasgow Street, Ardrossan since Sunday April, 29.

These included a number of incidents where bins and an industrial skip have been set on fire. Following initial investigation the fires have been deemed wilful and a police investigation launched to identify those responsible.

Locality Policing Inspector for the area, Colin Convery, said: “Illegal fire setting presents a risk to life and property - luckily no people have been injured in these incidents.

“We are committed to working with our partners and communities to keep people safe. Local officers are conducting enquiries in the area including the review of all possible CCTV but I would appeal to anyone with any information on those involved or anyone who may have witnessed the incidents to please contact us.”
