A 54-year-old man has been remanded in custody and placed on the Sex Offenders Register after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman.
Gordon Urquhart Walker assaulted the woman at his home in Argyle Road, Saltcoats, on December 8 of last year.
He repeatedly pressed his body against hers, kissed her on the lips, placed his hand on her thigh and attempted to touch her genitals.
Walker denied one charge of sexual assault but was found guilty after trial at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.
He admitted to two other charges against him – one of failing to appear at court and another of wilfully or recklessly destroying or damaging someone else’s property.
On the same date as the sexual assault, Walker repeatedly punched a door at a property in Saltcoats, causing damage to it.
Walker then failed without reasonable excuse to appear at a court diet on March 7.
Sentence was deferred for reports until May 22.
The court ordered that Walker be remanded in custody until that date.
He was placed on the Sex Offenders Register in the meantime.
