TWO Ardrossan instructors had their martial arts skilled honoured last weekend when they were inducted into the UK Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Alan Bell and John Divers are instructors with The Scottish Centre for Personal Safety, a charity based in the former Barony St John church buildings in Ardrossan where they teach personal safety courses and run a weekly Krav Maga class for children and females.

News of the duos success in teaching within the charity reached the organisers of the UK Martial Arts Show, an annual gala event involving the top names in martial arts from all over the world, which this year took place in Doncaster, and, taking into consideration Alan and John’s extensive self defence experience, the panel of judges had no hesitation in inducting the two into the UK Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Presenting the awards were martial arts legends Benny “The Jet” Urquidez, Bill “Superfoot” Wallace and former Judo champion Brian Jacks.

Speaking of their Hall of Fame inductions, Alan Bell commented; “We would like to thank all those at the UK Martial Arts Show for voting for us and honouring us in this way. This was a huge surprise and is testament as to how high our charity’s self defence skills are held within the martial arts world.”

If you would like to train with Alan and John, their Krav Maga class for children and females is on every Thursday from 6-6.45pm in the Barony St John Centre in Ardrossan.
