FIFTY locals got a surprise earlier this week with a ‘lonely bouquet’ as part of a national campaign.

Cunninghame Flower Club’s members came together last Thursday night and made over 50 of the small bouquets which were then distributed on Friday morning throughout the Three Towns, Dalry, North Shore and West Kilbride.

Brenda Johnstone from the club explained, she said: “Yesterday we were delighted with the number of lovely phone calls and Facebook messages from some of the people who picked up our 'Lonely Bouquet' and gave them a home.

“Comments included - you’ve just made my day - a beautiful colourful bunch of flowers - what a lovely surprise - your flowers are being well looked after placed beside the pot plants.....and thank you Cunninghame Flower Club member, whoever you are that left the bouquet.”

NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies) celebrate National Flower Arranging Day with the “Lonely Bouquet” and SAFAS (Scottish Association of Flower Arrangement Societies) have 84 Flower Clubs throughout Scotland to which Cunninghame Flower Club is one of them.

If you and your friends or neighbours are interested in Floral Art the Flower Club meet every third Friday in the month in the Civic Centre, Ardrossan from September to May.
