Police are appealing for information from the public following a serious road crash in Kilbirnie on Monday night.
Around 8.35pm, a motorcyclist travelling westbound along Cochrane Street (A760) collided with a black Audi A1 at the junction with Glasgow Street.
The 52 year-old rider of the motorcycle was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where medical staff describe his condition as critical. The driver of the Audi was uninjured.
The road was closed for around six hours.
Sergeant John Denholm, Irvine Road Policing Unit, said: “This incident has left a man with critical injuries in hospital. It is vital we find out exactly what happened.”
