Stevenston star Grado has paid tribute to his late mum while appealing for people to take part in a Beatson Cancer Charity 10k.

The wrestler, who lost his mum Maureen to cancer just before Christmas, wants as many people as possible to get involved in the charity’s Off The Beatson Track.

Grado attended the event’s official launch at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, where he was joined by charity mascots Bella Beatson and Ruadh the dog.

Grado said: “I’ve known The Beatson since I was young because my mum was treated there. She would always come home positive and be telling stories about the people she’d met. That rubbed off on me and I always remember her being happy rather than sad.

“Beatson Cancer Charity provides vital services to patients and families going through a very difficult time, and I want to support that.

“Everyone should sign up to do Off The Beatson Track. It’s for all ages and you can take your dog! Plus, it’s raising money for a fantastic charity.”

The 10k Off The Beatson Track takes place on Sunday, August 26. Sign up at www.beatsoncancercharity.org/content/off-the-beatson-track or call 0141 212 0505.
