A COMMUNITY group offering young people a musical introduction to pipes and drums is looking for your support.
Garnock Valley Pipes and Drums, which was started in February 2017, relies on fundraising as well as sponsorship and a sharing event is being held on Monday, June 4 at 7pm in Garnock Campus to allow potential supporters to find out more about the group.
Funding for tutors was obtained from Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust for three years which required matched funding.
And thanks to the commitment and enthusiasm of tutors Caitlin MacDonald (pipes) and Russell Esler (drums), Garnock Valley Pipe and Drums has gone from strength to strength, performing in the Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums competition at Inveralmond earlier this year.
Funding has come from J&D Pierce Contracts Ltd, Garnock Valley Ford, DSM ,Tesco of Kilbirnie, Dalry Parish Boundary Trust, Magnox and personal donations. Also, Garnock Valley Ford assisted with a Fiesta which was raffled, while Tesco bags for life and a Christmas concert have all helped to raise funds.
Chairman Ian Broughton said: “We are extremely grateful to all who have contributed. With your help we can build on what has been achieved so far.”
