MORE than £500 was raised at Dykesmains Primary School’s recent fun run.

The event was organised by the school’s Parent Council and saw over 100 children, as well as some parents, take part.

Sharon Smart from the Parent Council said that the money raised will go towards new outdoor equipment for the kids.

She said: “It went absolutely brilliant. It was a very good success. Over 100 children took part. Many parents took part as well. The children could get sponsored if they wanted to, but it was optional. We wanted to do something health and fitness-wise.

“We have raised over £500, which is really good. We are planning on using it on outdoor activities for the children, like footballs, skipping ropes, space hoppers, hula-hoops. There is equipment like that in the school but it’s very dated so it’s all brand-new things.”

The Parent Council wish to thank Tesco Saltcoats for donating fruit, all the teachers for their help and everybody who got involved.
