FOUR North Ayrshire landmarks will light up in blue on Global Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Awareness Day, in a campaign led by the charity MND Scotland.
Next Thursday the council has arranged for Saltcoats Town Hall, the Portal in Irvine, as well as the Pencil and Mackerston Fountain in Largs, to light up in blue in support of the charity.
‘Shine a Light on MND’ will see famous landmarks across the country, from the SSE Hydro and Glasgow’s Titan Crane, to Dundee’s Caird Hall and Ness Bridge in Inverness, light up in blue to raise awareness of the devastating neurological condition.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a rapidly progressing terminal illness, which stops signals from the brain reaching the muscles.
This may cause someone to lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, drink or breathe unaided.
Throughout the week MND Scotland is running a ‘myth-busting’ campaign to highlighting and challenge some of the stigmas and misconceptions around MND.
The campaign will include animated videos online featuring the voices of people with MND
