A SYNDICATE of lottery winning school cleaners from Saltcoats celebrated a lottery milestone last week with the delivery of a millionaire worthy gold playstation to the shop where they bought their lucky ticket.

Since the first draw back in 1994, The National Lottery has created 5,000 millionaires.

In the KA postcode alone, 25 millionaires have been created and 230 prizes of £50,000 or more have been paid out to those lucky winners.

The group of 18 school cleaners from the St Matthew’s Syndicate found out that their lives had changed in March 2015 when they bought the £1M winning ticket from The News Stand on Dockhead Street in Saltcoats.

Returning to the shop, after enjoying three years of sunshine holidays and new homes, the ladies revealed the limited-edition gold playstation to surprised shoppers.

Syndicate leader Claire Roberts, said: “Since the win, all of our lives have changed for the better. Each of us are from different walks of life and our age ranges from 25-68, so the money has helped each of us in so many ways.

“I’m hoping that this gold playstation will bring a little bit of extra luck to Saltcoats players so our millionaires club can grow even bigger.

Claire was joined by fellow syndicate members Margaret Roberts and Jean-Marie McCubbin.

Shopowner Mounir Sabti was happy to see Claire and the rest of the St Matthews syndicate, thanking them for their ongoing support.

“I can’t believe that there are now 5,000 lottery millionaires across the UK - we’re all extremely proud to say that one of those winning tickets came from our shop.” he said.
