ST MATTHEW’S Academy’s junior award ceremony was held on Monday, June 11.

The celebration began with a welcome from head girl Michaela Joyce, followed by the opening prayer from Father Kelly.

After Daniel Grier’s solo piano performance of Beethoven’s Fur Elise, head teacher Mr Colligan gave his introductory remarks, looking back on another year of success for the academy.

He then introduced the principal guests, Paul and Anne Carmichael.before presenting the S1 awards.

The Ukelele Group then performed The Climb by Miley Cyrus, which was followed by the presentation of S2 awards by Mrs Turbet.

The Vocal Group sang Don’t Stop Believing by Journey before the presentation of S3 awards by Mr Herron and the presentation of special awards by Mr Colligan, who then gave his concluding remarks.

The vote of thanks was given by head boy Evan Rush and the event concluded with the blessing by Father Kelly.
