POLICE in Saltcoats are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted with a glass bottle in broad daylight.
Detectives are appealing for information following the incident in Saltcoats yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
Around 5.30pm, a 21-year-old man was on the Esplanade, the Braes, (near Iceland and Aldi) when he was approached by four young men and seriously assaulted him with a glass bottle.
The 21-year-old man suffered injuries to his elbow and wrist. Following the incident, the four suspects were seen heading along the Braes towards Ardrossan.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage for any further information.
Detective Constable Brynn Meehan said: “This area was full with people yesterday enjoying the hot, sunny weather and I am appealing to members of the public for their assistance.
"If anyone has any phone footage of the incident or the young men responsible for this attack, please pass it on to police.
"Anyone with information is asked to call CID officers at Saltcoats Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 3445 of 27 June 2018.
"Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously."
