Ardrossan singer Courtney Kirk has reached the finals of Miss Teen Great Britain.

The Herald reported recently that Courtney was a semi-finalist in the national competition.

Now the 18-year-old is delighted to have been shortlisted for the grand finals, which will take place in October in Blackpool.

Courtney told the Herald: “I think it’s amazing, I didn’t know I’d be able to do it. It feels really good. They sent me a nice pink sash saying ‘Miss Teen North Ayrshire 2018’.

“It’s spread over two days. You go down to Blackpool on the first day for a workshop to get to know the other contestants.

“Then you have a pyjama party, then the next day it gets more competitive and you go for the interviews and stuff.

“I think it will be fun, I’m excited to go down.

“When I first found out I was at school when I read the email. I was so excited. My friends were so happy for me and my family too.

“There’s a fashion-wear and an evening-wear round. I’m excited about going shopping for it because I love fashion.”

If Courtney wins the Miss Teen GB contest, she faces an exciting year of making guest appearances at events and taking on charity work.

Holding the Miss GB title should be a breeze for the former Ardrossan Academy pupil. Not only is Courtney a talented performer, she recently took it upon herself to raise £148 for the pageant’s official charity, Together for Short Lives.

Courtney said: “You don’t have to raise money, but I would like to.

“I did the school show for three days. I was Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.

“I thought it would be a great opportunity to try and use it to raise money.”
