A DOG day care centre in Dalry has been given the okay after backers took on objectors over a planning application.

Planners received a number of objections from residents who said that they were being disturbed by barking and extra traffic in the area - to the south of Dalry.

But several customers of Doggie Day Care Dalry wrote to the council to detail how the care centre helpedtheirpets, including help and care for dogs who have been abandoned and struggled with issues such as anxiety.

One wrote: “Our rescue German Shepherd was approximately one-yearold when we picked him up from the SSPCA. He had been abandoned and was in poor condition.

"Initially he found it difficult to settle and display anxiety and separation issues. Thanks to the centre, my dog is now much less stressed and anxious, enjoying life as he should. He looks forward to his regular visits."

Another stated: “My dog has been attending Doggie DayCare Dalry for over three years. He suffers from separation anxiety and shakes and cries when left at home alone.

“I discovered the centre and decided to try it. He was the first dog to attend and was treated like part of the family.

“He has become more socialised with other dogs and has made new friendships.”

Another said: “I would not be able to keep my business and employ three people. I live alone and my dog means everything to me.

“To not have her would be hell on earth, but thankfully, the centre allows me to be able to work and have my dog.”

One objector wrote: “The noise pollution from the dogs barking over previous years is awful and creates a nuisance and causes disturbance. What was once a peaceful area of the countryside is very sadly no longer. 30 dogs is also a very large number and is far greater than what this community [can] cope with”.

There was no objection raised by the council’s environmental health department and the application was approved with conditions.

Doggie Day Care Dalry was set up by Connie and Tony Harris-Mayell to ‘offer dogs around North Ayrshire and Renfrewshire a fun, friendly and caring environment for their time spent away from their owners’.
