Part of a major road in Dalry will close for more than a month to allow for essential work to connect it to the new bypass.

The A737 between Highfield and the Den will shut on Monday, July 30 for approximately five weeks. Local access only will be provided, assigned diversion routes will be in place.

One commuter told the Herald: “I travel to Barrhead regularly, so I’ll have to go through Kilbirnie. It means my journey is now half an hour instead of 15 minutes.”

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: “We anticipate that this could cause a minor delay to people’s journeys and would advise that you allow more time and plan your journey ahead.

“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank the public for their patience and continued co-operation during this time.”
