Commuters can expect disruptions over a 10-day period as sections of a busy Ardrossan road will close for carriageway resurfacing works.

Two sections of the B780 Dalry Road will be closed from Monday, July 30 until Friday, August 3 from 8am-8pm, with diversions in place.

The road will be shut at the Dalry Road Service Road junction to Stanley Road junction and at the Stanley Road junction to 40m north of Harvey Gardens junction during this period.

The same road will also be closed between Chapelhill Roundabout to South Isle Road junction from Monday, August 6 until Friday, August 10, 8am-8pm.

Councillor for Ardrossan and Arran Tony Gurney said: “It’s clearly going to cause disruption for many travellers and commuters but fortunately there are alternative routes.

“It is being closed for a good reason. We have all been very vocal about it being in need for more investments and anyone who has travelled that road will know how it’s been affected by the weather and erosion. It’s going to be short-term pain but worth it in the long run.”

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “The works are essential and our priority is always to make sure improvement works are carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible.

“We looked at options but closing the road was, by far, the safest and most efficient. Traffic control would have taken twice the time and have caused more delays. The works were planned outwith the school term to minimise inconvenience.”
