A man who kicked and injured a dog in Saltcoats has been jailed for four months.
Francis Christopher Hughes, 33, caused the animal unnecessary suffering in that he repeatedly kicked it on the body to its injury.
Hughes, along with Lisa Dearie, 36, also behaved in a threatening or abusive manner towards a 64-year-old woman.
The pair, both of Holehouse Court in Largs, shouted, swore, acted in an aggressive manner and placed the pensioner in a state of fear and alarm on May 18.
Hughes and Dearie appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week for sentencing.
Hughes had previously pled guilty to two charges, Dearie had admitted to one.
Hughes was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, while Dearie was ordered to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work.
