NURSERY kids and elderly residents working together in a new partnership have scooped an award after creating a collage of pictures for National Smile Month.
The children at Bradshaw Nursery teamed up with Caledonia Care Home earlier in the year as part of their ‘Nippers and Slippers’ project.
The partnership sees the kids visit the Saltcoats home every week to develop and encourage relationships with the residents. It has already proved a great success.
And the partnership is going from strength to strength as Nippers and Slippers recently won a Caring for Smiles Award from the NHS Oral Health Promotion Team.
Janice McAdam, activity co-ordinator at Caledonia Care Home, said: “Our Nippers and Slippers has been ongoing now for quite a few months.
“It has been an exciting new venture for both Caledonia and Bradshaw Nursery to enter a competition like this, let alone win it.
“Both the kids and the residents are loving the experience of interacting on a weekly basis.
“We do all different activities with the residents and the kids from chatting to playing games.”
Congratulations to the winners - young and old - from all at the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald.
