Two men were threatened during a robbery at Alpine Stores in Ardrossan in the early hours of this morning (Monday, August 13).

Three men entered a flat on Dalry Road at around 2.40am and threatened the 30-year-old and 18-year-old with weapons, before breaking into the business premises below the flat and stealing a quantity of cigarettes.

The first man is described as 6ft, of slim build and with a Scottish accent. He was wearing a black mask and dark clothing.

The second man is described as around 5ft 8 and of stocky build. 

Enquiries are being progressed to get a description of the third man.

Detective Constable Nicola Fraser, Saltcoats Police Office, said: “Although nobody was injured this was a terrifying attack for the two men who were within the flat above the shop where the goods were stolen.

"Officers have been checking CCTV and making door to door enquiries.

“We are appealing for anyone with any information regarding this incident or saw anybody matching these descriptions in the area at the time to come forward.

“We would also ask anyone who has been offered cigarettes for sale in the area to come forward and contact police.”
