WEST Kilbride’s Scarecrow Festival returned recently and proved a big hit with young and old alike.

The West Kilbride Improvement Group are delighted to announce the winners of this year’s event: Schools: 1st Cumbrae Primary School with the Calmac Ferry, Runner up Moorpark Primary, Robot.

Family: Jacqueline Wilson, Pirate, runner-up Sonia Hughes, Moon Landing.

Groups: West Kilbride Boys Brigade, Potato Heads.

Business: Timberbooks, Book Couple.

Hidden Object Winners: Kai, Levi and Marley Johnson. Eilidh McGleish. Jessica McDonald, Sophie Rice.

Treasure Trail Winners: Maxwell McLean, Kiera Hunter, James Richardson, Sophie Rice.

Winner of the Free Draw for the Waterside, Eileen Brawley.

The West Kilbride Improvement Group would like to thank the Ardrosssan Herald for their support to get this years event off the ground.

Funding was greatly received from the North Ayrshire Council, West Kilbride Trust and Magnox.

Generous donations were also received form JMC Financial Services and the Waterside Hotel and Restaurant.

A special thanks to John Young at Chapelton Farm for storing the scarecrows until the event, also the Audrey at Wm Burtons for all her help with entry forms etc.

The North Ayrshire Council Streetscene played a major role in the whole event, as did the Ayrshire Community Education Sports, ACES for their contribution to the event.

Finally a huge thank you to all who took part. Interest has already been expressed regarding next years event, whereby the present group will be more than willing to assist in an advisory capacity.
