ANOTHER dog has been injured by broken glass – just one week after the Herald reported that a Labrador had cut open his paw in a Dalry park.

We revealed two-yearold Caesar was injured after standing on discarded glass.

Owner Pippa Smith was unable to walk the Lab as he was in so much pain.

Following our report, another owner revealed that her pet had also cut his paw on glass shards, in Ardrossan’s Central Avenue park.

The owner, who did not wish to be named, said: “He’s okay now but I’ve got to be on guard when I take him out in park as it’s ongoing.

“I did report it to the council who did send cleaners out to the area, but something needs to be done to stop the young people who hang around the park at night constantly smashing glass.

"I don’t blame the council though maybe CCTV should be installed to discourage kids from doing it.”

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “We make strenuous efforts to keep our streets and parks tidy but, unfortunately, there are a small number of people whose thoughtless actions pose a risk to people and their pets.

“We would urge anyone who sees environmental crimes to contact us and our Streetscene Environmental Enforcement Officers will make every effort to catch those responsible.

“In the meantime, we ask that anyone who comes across broken glass on the ground to report it to our Customer Service Centre on 01294 310000.”

The Herald is pleased to report Caesar the Labrador has recovered
