TWO golfing obsessive teachers realised a driving ambition when they completed a crazy charity marathon.

Kilwinning man Iain Lindsay and his fellow teacher at Troon’s Muirhead Primary Colin McCaw, played 72 consecutive holes of golf at the Troon Municipal courses Iain, left, and Colin during the holidays.

And they raised a whopping £2,000 from the all-day challenge, which saw them play Darly followed by Lochgreen and then Fullarton twice. The money will help boost the project undertaken by Mission International, featuring Seagate Church Pastor Richard Woods to build a primary school in Haiti.

Colin, from Troon said: “We kicked off at 6.45am at Darley and finished about 9pm. Dorothy Wilson from the school made us a bacon roll atthe 16th and a coffee, it was a welcome break.”

Iain said: “We enjoyed the golf, we putted in from a fair distance. By the third round our swing was a bit relaxed and we were losing golf balls but we kept going. We had a couple of Facebook Live shouts and that helped us get some support.”

Added Colin: “I was really struggling near the end of the third round and wasn’t sure I would make it but I got news that my sister Lorna had a baby that day and that kept me going.”
