TWO sisters were amongst the latest locals to sign up and say thank you to those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the First World War.
Legion members have been out and about in supermarkets and other buildings in the area asking people to sign up and write a message to those who served 100 years ago.
Two of those local people were Jessie Stevenson and Margaret Strachan who recorded their Uncle Alexander Slator who was killed in action during the conflict.
After research Jessie found the actual grave of her uncle in a mutuality WW1 graveyard in Woolwich, London.
Alexander was buried in January 1915 and was a member of the Argyle and Southern Highlanders.
