LAST month Cunninghame Housing Association Chairperson Janet Strang presented 17-Year-Old Saltcoats Karate athlete Aria Pascual with a cheque for £1,000 from the Association’s “Making our Communities Better Place Fund”
It is hoped that the funding will enable Aria to qualify for the 2020 Olympics.
Janet Strang said: “The Association is delighted to be able to support local sports people in achieving their ambitions.”

The funding has already helped Aria complete in the prestigious international WFK Karate Competition. Further qualifying competitions will be held in Luxembourg and Venice.
In the past 15 months she has done well in National Competitions and has been selected as part of the Scottish National Team.
Frank Sweeney Chief Executive of Cunninghame Housing Association commented: “Over the past 10/15 years we have supported numerous young people to help them to be successful in their chosen sport. This approach I have no doubt will continue in the future.”
