MORRISONS in Stevenston is teaming up with the National Autistic Society to offer a quiet hour for shoppers.

Every Saturday morning between 9am and 10am, shoppers who are autistic or those with autistic children can relax as they navigate the aisles.

The initiative was started early this summer and has proved to be a big success across stores in Scotland.

During the hour Morrisons will do various things to ensure that customers can carry out a worry free shop.

They will dim the store lights, turn off music and radios and avoid any tannoy announcements.

They will also reduce movement of trolleys and baskets, turn off the checkout beeps and other electrical noises and ensure that other customers know that the quieter hour is in operation.

All stores in the country, including Stevenston and Largs, will be taking part in the initiative.
