THE first ever Garnock Valley Carves event has been hailed as ‘absolutely brilliant’ by its organiser.

The unique event took place on Saturday in Beith and it is estimated that over 1,500 people attended on the day.

Officially opened by Depute Provost Robert Barr, the event played host to a number of stalls, carvers and special guests as visitors were left in awe of the skills of those in attendance.

Ten carvers, including three from across the pond created the fantastic designs including bears, cows and owls for visitors to purchase.

The talents of the carvers have to be seen to be believed, who knows what will be on offer at next year’s event, will we see a giraffe or a walrus?

The day would not have been possible without the generous sponsors including J & D Pierce Contracts, Beith Christian Action Group, North Ayrshire Council and many others.

Organiser Norrie Brown told the Herald: “It was absolutely brilliant. Everyone was happy and they are already looking at next year.

“A big thanks goes to all of the sponsors for their kind support.

“Special thanks to John Smith – the town of Beith would not be the same without him.
