THE Three Towns Growers held their open day at the weekend and it has been hailed a big success.

Taking place on Sunday at their Elm Park Allotments site, the fun day saw locals and visitors sample the produce grown on the site and enter a scarecrow contest.

Maria Paterson-Kidd from the Growers told the Herald: “We would like to thank everyone for their produce donations and those who came along to buy the produce and support us.

“A special thanks to Mayfield Primary for donating apples from their school garden.”

The winner of the scarecrow competition was Chloe Ball, aged 3, from Ardrossan, who won a £10 voucher kindly donated by The Rowantree Restaurant and Garden Centre.

Everyone who entered received a small prize of daffodils with pot for them to grow.

All produce left over on the day was donated to South Beach Care Home and the North Ayrshire Foodbank.
