A WOMAN who punched two other women during a drunken assault has been ordered to pay compensation.

Gemma Molloy admitted to punching two women, aged 39 and 16 during a booze-fuelled row at Sandylands Caravan Park in the summer.

The 31-year-old admitted to Kilmarnock Sheriff Court that the senseless row erupted after “too much alcohol” and accepted responsibility.

The court heard Molloy, who is from Collessie Drive in Glasgow, was at the Saltcoats holiday park at around 12.30am on June 10 this year when she approached the 39-year-old woman and demanded “Why have you been talking about me?”

The fiscal depute told the court: “The complainer had never met the accused before and informed her she had not been talking about her. The situation was diffused and the accused walked away.”

However things got violent a short time later when Molloy, who works as a pharmacy dispenser, approached the victim once again and punched her in the face. At this point the second female, a teenager, stepped in to help the first victim, only to end up being punched in the face herself.

The Fiscal said: “She stepped in between the two parties in an effort to separate them and the accused threw a punch and it struck her in the face. After a short scuffle the incident ceased and the police were called.”

Molloy, who was representing herself in court was asked by Sheriff Michael Hanlon what had made her lash out at the two women.

She told him: “There was too much alcohol involved and I went too far.”

Sheriff Hanlon ordered Molloy to pay £150 compensation to each of her victims.
