AN Ardrossan activist living with autism has been named Young Volunteer of the Year by 3TFM.

Jordan Fernando was the overall winner in the Three Towns Locality and was nominated by 3TFM manager Louis Ferguson for her volunteering with the local radio station.

Jordan, 21, was really surprised when members of the Ayrshire Community Trust turned up at 3TFM while she was working and presented her with her trophy, voucher and certificate.

Mum Suzanne said: “She was overcome with emotion when she got home and was stunned to find out she was the winner – never mind being nominated.

“We are all very proud of Jordan. She has been volunteering within the community since she was a very young girl and particularly enjoys her voluntary work with both 3TFM and The National Autistic Society.”

Louis added: “Jordan is a loyal, reliable and regular volunteer to 3TFM and does a magnificent job.

“She also has a caring and kind personality – a wee earth angel, and without a shadow of a doubt justi fie s this recognition.”
