An Irvine man has appeared in court charged with stalking his wife – and spying on her in Kilwinning.

Murray Walker is alleged to have hounded the woman in July this year.
Prosecutors claim Walker, 38, engaged in a course of conduct which caused his spouse fear or alarm by "attend[ing] at Winstanley Wynd, Kilwinning, for the purpose of spying on her" and repeatedly phoning her and making abusive comments to her.

He is also said to have followed her "as she travelled from Kilwinning to Paisley by car, drew alongside her car when stationary at traffic lights at Lonend, Paisley, demand[ed] she pull over and she return the car to you and behave in an aggressive and intimidating manner and make abuse comments."

He denies causing her fear and alarm, in breach of Section 39(1) of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010.

Walker – whose address was given on court papers as Auchencar Drive, Kilmarnock, but was released on bail to a property in Livingston Terrace, Irvine – pleaded not guilty to the single charge against him when he appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court last week.

Sheriff Moira MacKenzie released him on special bail conditions banning him from going to Winstanley Wynd, Kilwinning, and banning him from having any contact with his wife.

Walker is set to go on trial next month.
