A Kilwinning councillor has hailed positive progress to improve lighting at a Pennyburn bus stop.

SNP Councillor Scott Davidson has expressed delight that swift action has been taken since the issue was raised.

Following meetings with the responsible parties the SNP Councillor has welcomed the planned works to be carried out.

Cllr Davidson said “I met with the Cabinet Member for Place, Cllr Montgomerie, at the location first thing on Monday morning, where we discussed a range of issues.

“Further to this I had a good talk and walk round the area with our Kilwinning Streetscene Manager and the Assistant Arboriculture Manager.

“I’ve been impressed with the passion and dedication they have to do the best job for our Kilwinning residents and visitors, and I’m impressed with the amount of work that has been agreed between us.

“An area of undergrowth, bushes and some trees will be cleared behind the bus shelter.

“Also the trees along Pennyburn road will be trimmed back to a distance that will ensure they do not affectthe lamp posts any longer.

“Also the clearing of the triangle of land directly behind the bus stop will allow more light to the path behind the shelter, allowing users to see clearly behind them when waiting for a bus.”

The councillor added: “I’ve already been in touch with the constituents who first raised this issue with me and they are pleased with the speed this has moved at.

“I will look forward to meeting them on site following the work where I’ll get their verdict on the completed work first hand.

“Meantime I’d like to thanks all the parties involved for the prompt action taken.”
