A FUNDRAISING night held last month in memory of a much loved Saltcoats dad has been hailed a big success.

Jimmy’s Night took place at Woodwynd Community Centre on Saturday, September 22 and was organised by Alison Reid, daughter of the late Jimmy Reid.

Raising money for the British Heart Foundation, the night had a bit of everything with karaoke, a caricature artist, raffles and a comedian. And supporters were treated to some traditional music with piper Ciaran Bingham at the end.

Around 70 guests enjoyed singing and dancing the night away whilst raising money for the worthwhile cause and so far £850 has been collected with more money to come in.

Alison would like to pass on thanks to her partner Robert Anderson who helped organise the night. Thanks also go to Kirsty McCrae from J’Adore Salon, Shauni Gray for doing the bar and buffet, Moira Rae from the beauty spot, Charlie’s Bar in Ardrossan - which was Jimmy’s local who kindly donated a tour of Celtic Park for four people as well as selling bands and donating raffle prizes.

Alison said: “It was a great night, we didn’t get a minute because it was so busy but the stress was worth it.”

A big thanks also goes to all the local businesses who chipped in and to the staff at the Woodwynd Community Centre for all of their help.
