AN ACCLAIMED short film starring a Saltcoats actor has won a major award at a French film festival.
Bridge, which features local actor Steven Duffy and actress Katy Murphy - who played Miss Toner in Tutti Frutti - won Best Short Film at the Dinard Film Festival.
And the win saw director Iain Robertson and business partner John Quinn, collect one of the festival’s celebrated ‘Hitchcock’ awards. Bridge, written by Donna Franceschild, deals directly with the issue of suicide in a tender, uplifting manner.
Steven, who starred alongside director Iain in the hit movie Small Faces, was delighted with the win and told the Herald: “It’s great news and I’m particularly pleased for Iain, who led an amazing crowdfunding campaign to get the project underway.”
