EXCITING plans for McGavin Park have now moved a major step forward after the group behind the proposals were given a huge funding boost.

Kilwinning Community Events will receive £35,000 from North Ayrshire Council’s pioneering Community Investment Fund (CIF) to help them transform the park.

The money will go towards converting the former tennis courts into a state-ofthe-art outdoor gym and all-ability playpark.

This is the first phase of the plans for McGavin Park with the total cost of this part of project around £72,000. Additional funding will be provided by the Solar Farm fund, Kilwinning Town Charitable Trust and the McGavin Park Fund. It is proposed to invite tenders for the provision and installation.

The equipment includes leg push, walker and slalom, sit up and stretch bars, push up bar, pull down bar and dip bar, arm trainer, cycle trainer, 25m aerial runway with launch platform, York bench, Cambridge picnic table, trampoline, nest swing and wheelchair-friendly play equipment.

The council has also agreed to include the new equipment in their regular inspection for health and safety and cleaning regime.

The new gym is expected to be ready by April next year.
