GIRVAN 3

CRAIGMARK BURNTONIANS 2

GIRVAN gaffer Ian Patterson got one over on his old assistant Greg Gallagher as the hosts edged a five-goal thriller at Hamilton Park.

The visitors began strongly and had a host of chances in the first 15 minutes, with Scott Dempster hitting the post and Ryan McCubbin coming close.

However Girvan went ahead against the run of play in 20 minutes when Michael Mossie headed home a corner-kick. Eight minutes later, Gregor Ferry nodded home from another corner.

Craigmark pulled a goal back in 35 minutes when a Paul McCambley cross was knocked home by McCubbin.

In 55 minutes Ally Boyle swung over a cross and Scott Dempster volleyed home to make it 2-2.

The visitors then hit the post again and failed to cash in on a one-on-one opportunity.

However late on Mossie scored his second of the game to seal victory.

Meanwhile Girvan have appointed Andy McInnes to the backroom team as a goalkeeping coach.

Congratulations also go to Girvan coach Ally Sproul on the birth of his daughter.
