North Ayrshire Council’s housing team have been ranked as one of Scotland’s best performing services.

The 2017/18 performance data from the Scottish Social Housing Charter shows the council continues to deliver top level services.

Figures confirm that North Ayrshire continues to perform to an excellent standard in key areas of the service, including being the top performing local authority in Scotland in terms of managing void properties quickly and efficiently.

Despite the roll out of Universal Credit Full Service in North Ayrshire late last year, the Housing Services team has retained its position as third in Scotland for rent arrears levels.

And with a robust process for managing antisocial behaviour, the council is ranked first in Scotland for the percentage of cases resolved within agreed targets.

The council’s efficient homeless service also ensures applicants spend the least amount of time in temporary accommodation across Scotland, whilst over 98 per cent of homeless customers are satisfied with the quality of their temporary accommodation.

The housing team’s most recent tenant satisfaction survey was undertaken over the summer, and there has been a marked improvement with satisfaction levels reaching 93 per cent – up from 88 per cent in 2016.

The Scottish Housing Network also confirms that North Ayrshire Housing Services remains the top performer amongst local authority members in terms of both level of service and value for money.

Councillor Jim Montgomerie, Cabinet Member for Place, said: “This is further recognition that our housing staff perform above and beyond on a daily basis.

“Although we have a rent level which is lower than the Scottish average, the services we provide to tenants is outstanding and that can be seen in the satisfaction levels and positive feedback we receive.

“We have around 13,000 council houses in North Ayrshire and the team do a great job in ensuring our tenants are well looked after.

“This report comes at a time when we are delivering arguably the most ambitious council house building programme in Scotland, if not the UK, creating more than 1000 new homes.”
