North Ayrshire Foodbank received a £700 boost from local McColl’s stores.
The money has been raised over the last year from customer purchases at McColl’s branches in Ardrossan, Saltcoats, Kilwinning and Largs.
Craig Crosthwaite, from North Ayrshire Foodbank, thanked McColl’s for the donation. He said: “It will help us a great way because we struggled a bit over the summer. Holiday times are when donations go down because everyone’s often holiday.
“We always have a certain point through the year when donations are lower, and this money will allow us to buy food that needs replenished at these times.”
Johanna McMaster, branch manager at McColl’s Ardrossan, added: “The money was raised when customers purchased items within the store.”
Representatives from McColl’s presented the foodbank with a cheque on Thursday, October 11.
