NORTH Ayrshire’s MSP has called on the UK government to announce funding for the Ayrshire Growth Deal in his budget statement at the end of the month.
Cunninghame North MSP Kenneth Gibson has demanded funding for the project which will deliver economic growth and create opportunities that will benefit thousands of pe ople in Ayrshire's communities.
The UK Government has so far refused to make any concrete commitments or agree upon a timetable of delivery.
Mr Gibson said: “Ayrshire needs this growth deal, and while the SNP Government have been firm in their commitment to making the deal a reality, the Tories have blocked its progress again and again.
“The Ayrshire Growth Deal will mean investment, jobs and huge transformation to the area’s economy. Ultimately, it will improve the lives of my constituents who have suffered under Tory austerity.
“The time for empty promises and unnecessary delays is over. The Tory Government must take action to support the Ayrshire economy.”
