A video shot by a Scots man has gone viral in the wake of the alleged black panther on the prowl through Ayrshire.

Ryan Kelly filmed a clip of the BBC news report which was discussing the animal before revealing the images which sparked confusion amongst locals and led to a police warning being issued.

In the video the reporter confirms that the sightings were not in fact of a black panther before cutting to images of a black and white cat that the Ayr lad calls a "hoose cat".

Between sniggers he says: "Haha it's a f*****g cat, it's a f*****g hoose cat."

While Mhairi Campbell wrote: "Omg there are no words."

A spokesman for Police Scotland said yesterday: "Residents in Drongan and Coalhall are being advised by officers to be vigilant after a report has been received of a sighting of what is believed to be a black panther in the fields near to the B730 between the two villages.

“Officers are currently working with the SSPCA to locate the animal which may be injured.

“The area is popular with dog walkers so care should be taken and if anyone sees the animal we would ask you not to approach it.”
