Young ladies at Ardrossan Academy took part in Active Girls Day on Friday, October 5.
The annual event aims to promote and celebrate physical activity for girls and sees activities take place across Scotland.
Girls from S1-S6 at Ardrossan Academy took part in various sporting activities within the school.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “Active Girls Day is an annual event which aims to celebrate some of the fantastic work being delivered across the country in girls’ sport.
“The event forms part of the Scottish Women’s and Girls in Sport Week – led by the Scottish Government and sportscotland – to promote participation by girls and young women in sport using role models from across a range of sports and communities.
“Delivered in local schools through our active schools team, it is a hugely positive programme which helps address the historical imbalance of participation by boys in sports across the country.
“We are therefore fully supportive of this initiative and believe it can act as an inspiration to younger girls and give them an opportunity to try an activity which they might not otherwise have a chance to participate in.”
