POLICE are on the hunt after a man was left with serious injuries following an attempted murder bid in Saltcoats last night (Sunday).

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was attacked in the Saltcoats area of Ayrshire in the early hours of Monday, October 29.

Around 12.30am a 28-year-old man was walking on Ashdale Avenue when a small black five door hatchback car pulled up beside him.

Three men with weapons got out of the vehicle and proceeded to assault him.

The suspects then got back into the vehicle and made off in an unknown direction.

The victim managed to get to a nearby property where the householders called emergency services.

He was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital before being transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to arm and torso injuries. Medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

Detectives are treating the incident as attempted murder and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Mick Carr from Saltcoats CID said: “Extensive enquiries are underway to establish a motive for this violent incident and trace the despicable individuals responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Ashdale Avenue just after midnight this morning who may have witnessed a disturbance, or anything at all suspicious, to please get in touch.

“In particular I would like to hear from any motorists with dashcams who were in the area, in case they have captured footage which could be of significance to the investigation.
