Saltcoats residents are being invited to name a new boat planter in the town.

The garden feature was created by Saltcoats Community Council (SCC) on the triangular piece of land across from Caledonia Primary.

Hazel Haddow, secretary of the Community Council, said: “The Caledonia triangle was brought up as an area where the centre planter area was a bit messy looking. The boat was donated by a member of the public and we used funding for the soil and plants.

“The sandstone was donated from a member of the public in the area who was doing house renovations.

“Billy Colclough, a member of public who is a keen gardener selected the plants to be used and he helped SCC coordinate the work with Community Payback which SCC are very grateful for.

“We wish to thank Billy and Community Payback for all the hard work and hope the public passing the area enjoy seeing something new.

“A name for the boat is up for discussion.”

Anyone with a name suggestion can contact SCC at saltcoatscommunitycouncil.org or go along to their next meeting on Monday, November 19 at 7pm in Saltcoats Town Hall.
