POLICE believe a fire at a Saltcoats flat yesterday evening was set deliberately.
Shortly after 5pm, police and fire services were called to a property in the town's Glebe Place after reports of a fire - now cops are looking into the cause, believing it was wilful fireraising.
Areas around the fire were cordoned off and a large presence of emergency services attended the scene.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police have launched an investigation following a fire in Glebe Place, Saltcoats on Tuesday, November 27."
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 5.24pm on Tuesday to reports of a fire within a flat of a three storey tenement in Glebe Place, Saltcoats.
“Operations Control mobilised a number of fire engines and firefighters extinguished the flames.
“There were no casualties.
“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
