THE Three Towns Men’s Shed will be housed in the Focus Centre until at least later 2019, despite the building being earmarked for closure.

And following the recent announcement that the centre is to close, the shed continues to go from strength to strength.

Councillors Jean McClung and Davina McTiernan, who had been instrumental in finding the premises for the group were given an assurance that the Shed is secure in its present home until at least the end of 2019, after which a community asset transfer could be on the cards. Failing this, alternative NAC premises would be found.

Cllr McClung, SNP Councillor for the Saltcoats/Ardrossan Ward, told the Herald: “Davina and I have been up to see the men at the Shed on a number of occasions and on each visit have been amazed at the progress that has been made in such a short time. A ‘hive of activity’ would be an understatement.”

Cllr McTiernan, added: “I am absolutely delighted to see the Men’s Shed grow and grow and grow.”

The Men’s Shed is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10am- 3pm.
