THE Advertiser can this morning reveal the identities of the woman found dead and the man badly injured in Ayr's Main Road last week.
Police confirmed that Ann McLean was found dead within a flat in the street early on Wednesday, November 28.
Cops are treating her death as unexplained and continue to investigate exactly what happened but sources say that both were stabbed.
On the same day a man, named locally as John Prentice, was found seriously injured in the street and remains in hospital recovering from the incident.
Nobody has been arrested in regards to the incident but Superintendent Brian Shaw from Ayrshire Police said that there was 'no threat to the wider public' in a statement released afterwards.
He said: "I would like to reassure people in Ayr that officers are dedicated and committed to this enquiry. There is no threat to the wider public, however, additional officers will be in the area to provide reassurance and anyone with any concerns should approach these officers.”
