A local church is looking for live donkeys and sheep to take part in a special interactive nativity event.

Ardrossan Church of the Nazarene is appealing to members of the community for help in recruiting animal stars for its Night of Bethlehem.

The event, which takes place between 4-7pm on Sunday, December 16, invites visitors to “walk through the streets of Bethlehem and experience the Christmas Story”.

Reverend Nathan Payne said: “No Christmas story would be complete without a donkey, and if anyone would be able to donate a live donkey for the afternoon that would be appreciated. The shepherds would also love to have a sheep to keep them company for the afternoon, if anyone could help us out there too.

“Visitors will have the chance to step into the Christmas story. They will experience the sights and sounds of the marketplace as they make their way in. They can even interact with some ofthe characters from the first Christmas story, including King Herod, the shepherds and the Wise Men.

“Visitors will end up in the main hall where we will be hosting a Christmas fair, with local crafters and also drinks and snacks available.”
