RESIDENTS are being reminded to check their bin collection arrangements for the festive period.

That’s because the Christmas and New Year bank holidays will bring changes to some bin collection days.

However, only those households whose bin collections normally fall on a Tuesday or Wednesday will be affected as these will be brought forward a few days and carried out on Saturday and Sunday.

For all other households, bin collections will be the usual day.

The revised timetable for mainland is:

Tuesday, December 25 will be on Saturday, December 22.

Wednesday, December 26 will be on Sunday, December 23.

Tuesday, January 1 will be Saturday, December 29.

Wednesday, January 2 will be Sunday, December 30.

For Arran, the Tuesday December 25 collection will be on Thursday 27 and Wednesday 26 will be on Friday 28.

The Tuesday January 1 collection will now be on Thursday, January 3 and the Wednesday January 2 will be on Friday, January 4.

The Household Waste Recycling Centres will be closed on December 25 and 26 and on January 1 and 2.

Residents don’t have to worry about taking their real Christmas tree to a recycling centre, simply place it at the kerbside beside the brown bin.
